Happy Birthday GrungeCake!

Today, I celebrate the 4th anniversary of my arts and entertainment company, GrungeCake with a new issue, supporters, three of my favourite entertainers from Denver, Colorado (BLKHRTS), San Francisco, California (The Genie), and Kendall Elijah (Hyattsville, Maryland by way of Queens, New York).

I was so excited that I recorded a video and posted it to the GrungeCake fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/GrungeCake/94825512745

I really look forward to meeting the whole Galax Recordings team and I look forward to seeing NTU FARA's facial expression when she has the issue in her hands that she covers!

NTU FARA is an amazing female artist from Brooklyn, New York. Check her out on Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/nikki-ntu

BLKHRTS

Bio: BLKHRTS (Yonnas, FOE, Karma) a trio of energetic MC's with a unique sound that injects each song with soulfulness, imagination and palpable fury. BLKHRTS have recently released their first EP "BLK S BTFL" January 8, 2011 with full length releasing at the end of the year. Coming from Denver, CO BLKHRTS have unabashedly pushed the envelope of what hip-hop should sound like.

Set: Hip-hop with veins of goth, minus the pretense that generally accompanies the latter. Taking Karma's gritty tone, FOE's dizzying rap lyrics and Abraham's futuristic beat making and rapping, BLKHRTS is charting fairly unmarked territory in hip-hop.

THE GENIE

Bio: The Genie is an avant-garde guitar / DJ innovator from San Francisco who blends beat boxing, live looping, slide guitar, unconventional syncopation, and original mixing techniques to create a visually and sonically mesmerizing show. Sponsored by Line6, he is considered one of the best and most original live-looping artists in the world. His music blends various genres including electronic, hip hop, dubstep, blues, jazz, and eastern influences via his unique style of performance called 'scratch guitar' and 'g-mixing'.

Set: The Genie’s set contours an avant-garde guitar performance called ‘scratch-guitar’ and ‘g-mixing’. Guitar-DJ hybrid and technical innovation. His g-mix set includes ‘Shove It’ by Santigold, ‘The African Way’ by K’NAAN, ‘Book of Light’, ‘Forever Loving Jah’, and ‘Fixed Income’ by Damien Marley. You are in for a visual treat!

KENDALL ELIJAH

Bio: All aboard! On the voyage of life you’re either a captain, apart of the crew, or a creature navigating uncharted territory on a daily treasure hunt. Some stays afloat while others tongue kiss the ocean deep, but nevertheless, there is a voyage. Rapper / producer Kendall Elijah's crew consists of Gold (instrumentalists Taylor & Daelias). Manned with an omnisonic sound debut EP, “Eli Dynamite” is scheduled to dock in the spring of 2011 on GrungeCake Records. Stay tuned to avoid scurvy!
