Chris and Elliott Rogers are the new faces of dynamic young style emerging onto fashion’s leading edge. These native Toledoans were inspired to put their unique stamp on apparel even as young children who made a habit of embellishing print ads with their special flair. Chris and Elliott began sketching at the tender ages of 10 and 8 respectively, and as teens, their focus on fashion design and construction only intensified. Chris focused on construction remodeling as a youth, developing skills which now serve him well in conceptualizing and constructing pieces for the human form. Chris went on to expand his repertoire with formal sewing instruction and work experience as a fashion merchandiser for major retailers such as Macy’s and Dillard’s, where he managed the presentation of high-end lines including Polo by Ralph Lauren and Perry Ellis. Meanwhile, Elliott excelled in high school fashion merchandising classes, consistently winning competitions, but it was an encounter with an Oscar de la Renta couture show that sealed the deal for this football playing artist. Elliott went on to learn the retail end of the fashion industry while working at outlets such as The Gap, Van’s and Forever 21, which specialize in bringing fashion’s up-to-the-minute trends to the masses. Both Chris and Elliott are currently enrolled at University of Toledo, studying Art and Business respectively. In 2006, the Rogers brothers designed a line of custom t-shirts under the name of their debut line, Angels Never Fly Alone (ANFA). The brothers then debuted a full line under the ANFA banner at BGSU in March 2008 to much acclaim. In June 2008 the Rogers brothers were accepted into the historic Secor Building of artist spaces in downtown Toledo. They established the chris&ell design studio, and currently work with a growing roster of private clients. These young designers have hit the ground running and they’re undoubtedly headed for success. Influenced by iconic designers such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Viktor & Rolf, the chris&ell line utilizes innovative vision, solid construction and tasteful avant-garde sensibilities to push the style envelope. The end result is distinctive, flattering sportswear that captures the essence of the Rogers’ brothers eclectic, future-forward aesthetic.
