"The 8th Day" (2003). Installation (wool and nails, seven spectral colours, 4x4 metres on the wall spanning out approximately 10 metres to an approximately one metre square ball of wool on the floor). It's based on the colour spectrum and physical heirarchy and scale. It's a theory that happened to be symmetrical and pretty - although I have been using balls of wool (especially red initially), wool and nails or thumbtacks) often incorporated with shelves for years (since 2000). The ball of wool signifies the ball of wool Ariadne (Greek mythology) gave away to guide Jason out of the labyrinth - to escape from the minotaur!
I am influenced by colour theory, scale, semiotics (esp pragmatism), etymology, science (physics, cosmology, biology, psychology...), systems, design, archtecture, 'sacred' geometry, theology, mythology, philosophy, politics, graffiti (hip hop in general), fashion and equalibrium (beauty).
I don't only do installations - I also make (usually small oragami-like) paper/cardboard sculptures based on atomic lattices (especially star octahedrons), I make hybrids of furniture and art, draw, paint, sculpt, build architectural structures and make hybrids of all of the above.

This artwork is actually a systematic theory that happened to look pretty - each point is a point in a system based on the colour spectrum and the scale of the Universe (which is actually a 'Multiverse''). It started as a theory and I applied a signature practice to making it ...
