Photograph Description
Recently going through my photographs I came across this image and it made me laugh.......a number of years back when I still was in art school my friend and I decided to exhibit @ an artist run gallery called joes, (newtown sydney.....like most artist run spaces it had a short life) at that time I was working on series of photographs of video stills, I picked two photographs to blow up to A0 size, and being at art school and poor I printed these images on poster paper and then professionally mounted the images on chip board......they turned out to look ok. Anyways, setting up the day of the exhibition opening my friend asked me if I was going to put a price on my artwork.....having not thought about it i agreed and she put a price on them as I didnt know what price to put. That night after the exhibition opening people walking past the gallery saw my work and asked if they could buy one of my photographs, offering me $100 on the spot (which was lucky cause I was down to my last dollar) as you could image I was very excited! The art work that was bought was blood red, very contrasty and rich in colour, this image didnt sell. About six months later as I was cleaning my cupboard I came across this image and realised that the colours to the image had faded dramatically due to the non archival poster paper and the non archival adhesive of the mounted image on chip board...........I hate to think about the state of the photograph I did sell........the blood red is probably a baby pink by now........oops!

hahah that's a good story =p at least your made some money out of it!! i think it would matter much, sometimes the deterioration just adds more character to the work =]
