life just takes huge chunks
outta you
and expects you to heal
overnight.

in that case i guess we're all really superheroes
(in our own right).

life is the bully that gives
you a hand-up just
to trick you into
getting knocked back down again.

it forces you to come out of that telephone booth
and see that we're all just
mere men.

trying to make it in a world
that's just rooting for you to fail.
